PureTone - Different Fans, Different Value

There are now many different ways and formats for fans to consume music - free mp3, payed for mp3, payed for CD, payed for vinyl.

Despite free recorded music downloads previously seen as being a negative impact, James Kelly and PureTone believe this actually opens the opportunity for artists to develop their following, grow their overall market where previously unavailable and of course allows more fans to access more music.

This is because different fans have different valuations of a piece of music. Previously fans were only able to access recorded music at a set price, often being priced out of supporting that artist because they did not value it at the same level.

Now the artist can give their music away for free from their own website to less enthusiastic fans, who were not reachable before in return for an email address to keep them informed of other events the artist undertakes and that they may value.

Another fan who values the music more can consume it via rewarding the artist with a payment such as an mp3 from iTunes.

Some fans will value the music enough to want to own it on CD with artwork and info, or even a special box set for a greater price. This all drives the artist to make greater and greater music.

With this belief in mind, James and Puretone are working to make multiple formats available to multiple levels of fans, all to share the music.
